VOICE

On Saturday, January 23, 2016, VTM in partnership with the HCC MLK Day of Service Project and the Boys & Girls Club, hosted it's 2nd Youth Empowerment Workshop and it's 1st with a focus on both middle & high school boys and girls. 

 

TRUTH

Over 240 middle & high school boys and girls registered to attend, over 50 adults participated as volunteers, and over 50 organizations and businesses collaborated with the event.

 

HOPE 

To improve interest in higher education, increase community involvement, encourage economic and personal development, and stimulate dialogue through interactive workshops, dynamic speakers, and entertainers.

 

EMPOWER

Participating community leaders consisted of Buckwheat (Wild 94.1 WLLD), Michon Shaw (Black Girls Rock Tampa Bay), DJ Shizm (95.7 The Beat WBTP), Tiffany Edwards (Stillwind Productions), Garin Flowers (10News WTSP), Maxon Victor (Boys & Girls Club), Anjali Queen B (95.7 The Beat WBTP), Coily Divas (7 Natural Hair Advocates), Ebone Cruz (Media Personality), Stevonia Dixon (District Resource Teacher), Dr. Kahlila Lawrence (Consultant), Sidney Moore (Former Educator), Morris Martin (Guidance Counselor), Esque Dollar (Student Success Coach & Poet), Sean Woods (Entrepreneur), R. Anthony (Artist), Seckond Chaynce (Gospel Artists), and Shae Allen (Educator & Singer).

MOVE

National Youth Speaker and 2015 BET InstaStar JR Rivera and Author Shavon Reed commissioned the attendees to look within and lead through effective time management and fearless pursuit.
